LRP TCM 2011 – Ronald Völker and LRP dominate!
Mission successfully completed – this could be the motto of Ronald Völker’s triumphal procession at the LRP Touring Car Masters 2011.
After his sensational victory in 2010, Ronald could justify his favourite status and defend his title in style. This wasn’t an easy mission at all! The international elite of the touring car scene had subscribed: reigning World Champion Marc Rheinard, Juho Levänen, Alexander Hagberg, Andy Moore, Adrian Berntsen, Viktor Wilck, Elliott Harper and Freddy Südhoff, to name only a few.
It’s already 14 years now that the LRP Touring Car Masters in Eppelheim near Heidelberg is making R/C history. Today, it is one of the most important events in the international race calendar. But the idea of the LRP TCM is not only to create a world class event for the touring car pros. The succesful concept is to link the Modified class with a round of the LRP-HPI Challenge, Germany’s biggest race series. Races in the classes Rookie, Classic, Formula 1, 17.5T and Open Stock were held. From 25th to 27th march, three days of pure racing action were scheduled.

First-Class Show
A well structured time schedule guaranteed a perfect course of action and enough track time for every racer. This was also fun for the spectators that were spoiled with thrilling action. It’s the enormous speed of the Masters class and the true to original look of the Classic and Formula 1 cars that enthused everybody. Like every year, the LRP show stand located in the entrance hall presented the latest R/C models, LRP’s new own helicopter line and cars for everyone to see in action or to test themselves. Presentations were also held outside the hall with LRP’s most spectacular top sellers jumping and racing.
New Hardware
In the pit area there was plenty of brand new material to see. Many drivers of the Masters and Open Stock classes already used the new LRP VTEC LiPo Competition Car Line battery with a capacity of 6200, presented at the recent Nuremberg Toy Fair. The LRP SXX StockSpec version 2 brushless speedo powered many of the Open Stock racers. LRP’s product managers Reto König and Andy Krämer (racing for the first time at the TCM again after years of sitting out) were able to witness the fantastic results of their long-term development effort. The new products were able to showcase their outstanding potential and pushed many drivers to success.
LRP-HPI Challenge
It’s a very popular tradition that a round of the LRP-HPI Challenge is held at the LRP TCM. The Rookie Challenge, Classic Challenge, 17.5T Challenge and Formula 1 Challenge races offered first-class model sports again. The spectators in the hall were impressed by the action packed racing of Germany’s biggest race series.

Open Stock Class
After its successful premiere in 2010, the Open Stock class was again entered by many pilots. The Open Stock class is the perfect connection of Challenge and Modified racing. At the TCM, Challenge drivers have the possibility to race in one of the faster classes. Open Stock stands for speed and action. All of the twelve A-main drivers trusted in the Sanwa M11X transmitter, giving an impressive proof of the superiority of the Sanwa technology on the highest level of racing.

Masters Class
Ronald Völker in the shape of his life. There is no other way describing the TCM result. He dominated every round of the whole racing weekend. Ronald showed an impressing and mistake-free performance. His competitors didn’t have any chance. Ronald won 4 out of 4 rounds of training, 5 out of 5 rounds of qualifying and 3 out of three finals of the Masters class with ease.
First A-main
Being TQ, Ronald started from the pole position. He was able to gain a head start on the other drivers already in the first round. Ronald widened this gap step by step. His toughest rival Marc Rheinard was stopped in lap 17 by a technical defect. Juho Levänen and Alexander Hagberg could profit from Marc’s bad luck. They secured the second and third spots in the first heat, behind the winner Ronald Völker.

Second A-main
It was THE opportunity for Ronald: with another victory he could secure the overall TCM title ahead of schedule. No sooner said than done. Like on rails and without doing any mistakes, Ronald drove to an easy victory, leading from the start to the finish line. Marc Rheinard was able to come a little closer to Ronald in the last laps, but in the end, he was engaged into a tough position fight with Juho Levänen for the second place. Ronald kept cool and won also the second A-main with a clear advance, securing the overall TCM 2011 victory already in the second final.

Third A-main
Although the race had been already decided, the third A-main also offered a lot of thrilling racing. Ronald was unstoppable again. The combination of precise driving and the LRP power package in his Yokomo built up a perfect symbiosis and made Ronald unbeatable at this year's TCM. Behind him, it was Marc Rheinard who again secured the second place in this heat and also in the overall ranking. But Marc had a hard time to defend his position against his persuers. This time, it was Alexander Hagberg that followed him almost wheel-to-wheel. Nevertheless, Ronald was the dominating driver: his victories in training, qualifying and finals made him the most successful driver of this year’s TCM.
After his victory in 2010, Ronald was able to win for LRP again and defend his title in a spectacular and impressing way. The double European Champion was unbeatable at the TCM weekend.
