LRP Column / July 2016

20.07.2016
As we are approaching summer all the season highlights are quickly getting closer. Our LRP Factory team headed to Valladolid for the 1/10 Offroad Euro Warmups. Our R&D team simultaneously put the finishing touches to our new LRP Gravit Vision quadrocopter.
1/10 Offroad Euro Warmup (Valladolid, Spain)

In end of May, the 1/10 Offroad elite had gathered in Valladolid, Spain for the Warmup event predating the 1/10 European Championships. The Valladolid track still brings back great memories since Martin Bayer won his 1/10 Offroad Euros with LRP in 4WD when they were held there a few years ago. The track is still the same, but the layout has been changed. This time, it is smaller and more technical.

The track was very difficult to drive on, also in part due to the wet weather conditions. When dry, the track was full of dust and when wet due to the rain, it was suddenly extremely muddy. But one thing remained the same in both conditions: no grip but very fast. The track resembles more a 1/8 gas track than a 1/10 electric track and in these conditions a car and electronics were needed with great power but smooth drivability.

Our LRP factory team had a pretty successful time in Spain. In the 4WD competition LRP team driver Neil Cragg finished a promising second ahead of fellow LRP team driver and defending 4WD champion Michal Orlowski. The 2WD Warmup went even better for Neil and LRP. Powered by LRP Flow and Software v3.8, Neil won the 2WD Warmup, while Michal again came in third and Spanish native Carlos Pineda finished a great sixth. Michal and Carlos made great use of the complete LRP power package consisting of LRP Flow speedo, LRP X20 motor and LRP Competition Car Line battery. Especially the new 4000mAh shorty battery proved to be exactly the right choice regarding capacity, weight and power for fast 4WD cars.

After this successful warmup-race, the whole LRP team can confidently look forward to the 1/10 Euros held in the end of July.

LRP Gravit Dark Vision 2.4GHz Quadrocopter

It is a pleasure to introduce our latest quadrocopter offspring, the LRP Gravit Dark Vision. For this affordable quadrocopter, our R&D team made a pretty cool detail improvement that we baptised “revolutionary quick-mounting system”. It works plug and play, you won’t need any screws or soldering to replace a defective motor or broken arm. Simply pull the boom of the Gravit from its retainer and push the replacement arm back in and you are good to go! The “arms with motor” will additionally be available in 4 cool colours (yellow, red, blue, green) for your attractive colour tuning and not to forget in black as spare-part. Sometimes great innovations can be that simple!

Of course, the quick-mounting system isn’t the only cool feature of the copter. The Dark Vision has been equipped with a Full-HD camera that can be operated from the transmitter. Just choose via the two buttons, whether you want to take pictures or shoot a video. All files are stored on the already included Micro-SD card. Compared to other quadrocopters, the Dark vision has a surprisingly long flight time of up to 14 minutes in the air with the included LiPo battery.

All the well-known features that you have come to from our previous quadrocopters are also on board again. “Headless Flying” and the “Return Functions” make your life as a pilot a lot easier while the high-power motors generate ultimate acceleration and speed – in combination with the “360° Automatic Looping” a true eye catcher! The “Multiple LED-System” with different colours provide you with all the information you need while flying and also makes it very tough to loose sight of the Dark Vision.
