LRP Column - September 2016

09.09.2016
The racing season had its pinnacle with the upcoming Worlds in Beijing. Before that, another major fixture in the schedule also had its conclusion: the 2015/16 ETS season - once again very successful for LRP. Additionally, I will let you catch a glimpse of a new exciting product that is currently being developed.
ETS 2015/2016 season finale

The ETS season 2015/2016 is now in the books. The season finale (round 6) was again held in Trencin, Slovakia. The ETS series has become extremely popular. In round 6, we saw drivers travelling from Japan or even South Africa. The organisation was perfect as always. Once again, just like at the Euros, it was very hot. Rain was also an issue that compromised the schedule and led to delays. The track layout made it to a high speed affair with top speeds in excess of 120km/h in the Modified class.

Jan Ratheisky, who had already secured the series victories in Stock and Formula at the last round in Luxemburg, had a strong showing in Trencin, even with nothing on the line for him. In Formula he won again, while in Stock he had to settle for the runner up position. Over the course of the series, he was ETS’s most dominating driver!

In general, the results were very close with small advantages for the Xray drivers at their home track. LRP team drivers Viljami Kutvonen and reigning European Champion Ronald Völker on Yokomo fought in the leading group for the victory. Ronald turned his car over and found himself only on position four after qualification. The very same position he achieved after the 3 A-Mains. Fellow team driver Viljami faired better and was able to make another podium finish after his great second place finish in Italy. Throughout the series, LRP had constantly 4-5 drivers in the finals and 10 drivers in the top 20, making it a very successful endeavour from our point of view.

The race was a great test for the upcoming World Championships in China and also a very positive weekend for Atsushi Hara who was trusting in the complete LRP package of LRP Flow WorksTeam speed control, LRP X20 motor and Competition Car Line batteries. Being such a great ambassador for our brand and the RC community in general we are very glad and honoured to have him in our team. Atsushi will also rely on “Blue is better” at the Worlds.

Look what’s coming out of the LRP universe!

Our R&D staff is currently working hard on an entirely new quadrocopter platform in order to be able to release it towards the end of the year. As it is still a work in process, I can only give you some hints about the new product. But these are already enough to get me and hopefully you all hyped up.

This next big thing will be our RTF FPV-race-copter in compact design. You will get a high quality product at an entry level price. The copter will be carbon-fibre-enhanced and features powerful brushless motors. Live video feed from the HD camera to the pre-mounted screen on the transmitter will also be one of the highlights. This is unfortunately all I can tell you right now, but I shall reveal more in the next column. Stay tuned!
