Blue final at the EFRA 1:8 E-Buggy EC!

12.09.2016
There was never a EC final as blue as this one. 6 drivers went into the race with the combination of IX8 V2, Dynamic8 and CCL P5. Champion deservedly became David Ronnefalk ahead of newcomer and new Under 17 champion Juan Carlos Canas with LRP.

Home field advantage perfectly utilised! The young Spanish driver Juan Carlos Canas was only narrowly beaten this weekend at the EFRA 1:8 E-Buggy EC in Malaga. With his Mugen, powered by iX8 V2 speed control (setting: 1-3-4-1), LRP Dynamic8 motor (gear ratio 11.2:1) and LRP 7500 CCL P5 LiPo batteries, he had a dedicated and thrilling showing. Only the Swede David Ronnefalk was a little bit better and more constant and deservedly took home the victory with his HB car on AKA tires.

But it wasn’t only Juan Carlos who had a great performance. He and another 5 drivers did count on the power of Blue is Better in the final of the EFRA 1:8 E-Buggy EC 2016. Davide Ongaro only just missed out on the podium. The young Italian driver achieved a great 5th place with the identical equipment as used by Juan Marco. Martin Wollanka did finish 7th ahead of a whole plethora of local top drivers: Oskar Baldo on 8th place, Bryan Baldo on 10th place and Carlos Pineda on 12th place. It also should be mentioned that Borja Hernandez (9th) and Darren Bloomfield (11th) did also have blue power underneath their bodyshell – the LRP CCL P5 LiPo batteries.

New European Champion became David Ronnefalk – his third European title after 1:8 Nitro Buggy in 2013 and 2015. At the beginning it looked like it would be a clear victory for him. He was just too dominating in training and qualification. But Juan Carlos Canas was able to enforce the win in a hard fought second A-Main. After David had secured the first A-Main, the decision had to come in the third A-Main.

David started off strong in the deciding third A-Main and was able to put some distance between himself and his pursuers.  Some small mistakes closed the gap again to Juan Carlos and Bruno Coelho, forcing the Swede to show off all of his driving skills in defending his lead. He was able to do just that by constantly fast laps and the experience gathered in countless races. The fight for the second place between Juan Carlos and Bruno also gave David some breathing space. David took the win and therefore the title ahead of Juan Carlos and Bruno. The second place of Juan Carlos also constituted the European Champion title in the Under 17 competition - this is clearly one of the coming RC stars.
